A challenging, fun-filled course in which I learned a lot and made good friends... The teachers were amazing! Their personal feedback and encouragement increased my confidence and being taught by such amazing performers was inspiring!
Thank you for the most soul searching experience studying with Springs Dance Company...The teachers were so supportive and made learning fun in a safe environment and a very comfortable dance space. It was like my second home!
Improve your dance technique in a nurturing Christian environment through daily technique classes, including contemporary, ballet and street dance. Develop your performance and choreography skills through creating and re-constructing repertoire. Strengthen your understanding through supporting studies such as theology and dance science.
Explore and develop your unique passion through an independent, peer-supported project.
Grow your dance teaching skills through practical sessions. Put those skills into practice by taking part in an optional community placement in local schools and/or churches.
Share what you have accomplished with family and friends, in a relaxed performance at the end of term. Tell stories, express worship, explore current issues and inspire hope.
We also run Elevate Dance Company, a year-long training course for those with more experience. Following eight months of training, the course culminates in a vibrant, faith-filled nationwide tour to churches, schools, festivals and community venues.
In order to apply, you need to fill in our online application form. We will then be in touch to invite you to an audition at our studio in South East London. The audition will take the form of a contemporary technique class, a short improvisation task, a solo and an interview.
Students over the years have been able to fundraise successfully from many sources including their local church, family and friends, fundraising events, savings, part-time work and other local grant-making trusts. Social media is also a great way to raise money, by setting up a fundraising page on sites such as GoFundMe or JustGiving and sharing it on your social media.
Students source their own accommodation. We can help by putting students in touch with each other before the start of term if you are interested in sharing accommodation. There are also some local families who are sometimes interested in hosting students, whom we can also connect you with.
Yes, but it is up to you how much you feel you can manage. For Elevate Dance Foundation, the teaching and community placement module is optional, which would affect if the course was part-time or full-time for you. If you are taking part in the optional module, then the course is full-time and intensive with some evenings, and most weekends free. Once you have your timetable, you can work out if/when you would like to work.
(Please note that for overseas apprentices, the ability to work is subject to visa restrictions).
On successful completion of the course, you will receive a detailed report and a certificate. You will have accomplished undertaking intensive dance training and therefore improved your confidence in your dance and teaching technique. You will also have had the opportunity to explore your individual interest through your own project. We are not currently accredited with a university, as our course is quite unique and doesn’t easily fit into boxes!
