ELECTIVE CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Build your own timetable by picking the classes that interest you. Each morning will have two elective slots where you can choose which class you take part in. With classes in a range of techniques and levels as well as creative workshops, there is something for everyone.

  • CREATIVE PERFORMANCE PROJECT with Ella Fleetwood, Helen Le Roux & Katie Albon
    Dance Intensive

    Participants will be guided through a creative exploration in movement and dance, with Springs dancers choregraphing a short performance piece. On the final evening, participants will perform their collective new work for an audience alongside Springs Dance Company.

  • WARM UP WORSHIP with Psalms & Stretches
    GENERAL LEVEL

    A gentle exercise class that combines movement with meditation on scripture from the book of Psalms. This is a class where wellbeing meets worship and is a brilliant way to warm-up body, soul and spirit ahead of a day of dancing!

  • CONTEMPORARY with Katie Albon
    INTERMEDIATE / ADVANCED

    Katie’s class is full-bodied and dynamic, with an emphasis on moving freely and expansively through the space. Expect a joy-filled class with a mixture of set material and improvisation to get you feeling warm both outside and in!

  • CREATIVE WORKSHOP: Caught Falling with Helen Le Roux
    GENERAL LEVEL

    Delve into Matthew 11:30 through contact improvisation. Helen has a particular interest in physical story-telling and in how the space between people communicates.

    GENERAL LEVEL

    GENERAL LEVEL

    Ella's creative session will explore thirst, taste and refreshment, reflecting on the woman at the well in John 4 and rivers of living water in John 7:38.

    GENERAL LEVEL

    Join Artistic Director Ruth Hughes, for the chance to ask questions all about Springs Dance Company.

  • PILATES FLOW with DANIEL COSSETTE
    GENERAL LEVEL

    Mobilisation and conditioning for dancers. The class will focus on strengthening and stability, proper alignment and relaxed support, enhancing performance and longevity as movers and dancers.

    GENERAL LEVEL

    Dance and Prayer: Dance as an expression of personal prayer and worship. In these creative sessions, Louise will explore using dance to worship, to pray for others and as intercession.

  • CONTEMPORARY with Emily Yong
    INTERMEDIATE / ADVANCED

    Emily will lead a feel-good contemporary technique class that is dynamic, expansive and free-flowing. Inspired by a mix of Cunningham, Limon and Release techniques, this class will allow us to feel energised, invigorated and renewed.

    GENERAL LEVEL

    Discover a new way of lifting and partnering. Learn the power of leverage, timing, shared weight and momentum. This class will enable students to access exciting new possibilities. Recommended for more experienced or confident movers.

  • CREATIVE WORKSHOP: PHYSICAL THEATRE with The Natashas Project
    GENERAL LEVEL

    Join Erena from The Natashas Project in an hour of physical theatre. The session will be exploring how to tell stories by using our bodies, breath, voices, expression and most importantly how we work together as a team/company of movers to physically and visually bring a story to life.

  • JAZZ with David Birch
    General Level

    Whether you have had experience in much jazz or not, this is a chance to experience classic Jazz technique. Where you can introduce or reacquaint yourself with styles such as Fosse and Matt Mattox. A safe environment to discover foundational core aspects of Jazz Dance in a lively and dynamic fashion.

    GENERAL LEVEL

    This class will challenge and work into your ballet technique but also help you find joy, renewal and refreshment. We will move expansively and expressively within the precision and accuracy of ballet technique.

  • CREATIVE WORKSHOP: CHOREOGRAPHY FOR WORSHIP with Jin Lee Hanley
    GENERAL LEVEL

    This open-level choreography class invites dancers to explore the intersection of movement and spirituality within the context of worship. Whether one is a seasoned dancer or a beginner, this class provides a safe and creative space to jump into the art of choreography.

    INTERMEDIATE / ADVANCED

    This engaging dance class will expand on the art of contemporary movement. With a strong emphasis on body awareness, articulation, and spatial exploration, this class is designed to enhance physical and artistic flexibility while prioritizing safety. The class will include a quick warm-up, across-the-floor exercises, and a dance phrase. Join in to express, connect, and evolve through the captivating world of contemporary dance.
